A Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne
A Journey to the Center of the Earth (in French: Journey to the Center of the Earth), also translated as a journey in the center of the Earth, is a classic 1864 science fiction novel by Jules Verne. The story of a German professor (Otto Lidenbrock added French, Professor von Lidenbrock the most common English translation is believed that there are volcanic tubes to the center of the Earth. He and his nephew Axel and their guide Hans meeting many adventures, including prehistoric animals and natural hazards, eventually coming to the surface again in southern Italy. Living organisms reflects meet geologic time, as the rock layers become older animals and more travel, they become older, the most near the center. From a Scientifically, this story has not aged as well as other Verne stories, since most of their ideas about what the Earth's interior has been denied. However, a point of purchase for one's convictions Verne story, told in the novel point of view character, the interior of the Earth, in fact, different from that the characters are. One of the main ideas of the stories of Jules Verne was also to educate readers, and by placing the different extinct creatures characters are in their correct geological era, which is able to show what the world was long ago, extending the ice age of the dinosaurs.
The book was inspired by Charles Lyell's geological evidence of the antiquity of man in 1863. At this time geologists had abandoned a literal biblical account development of the Earth and is generally thought that the end of the last glacial period marked the first appearance of humanity, but Lyell on the basis of new results for be the origin of human beings much more in the deep geological past. Lyell's book has also influenced Louis Figuier in 1867 second edition of Earth before the Flood, including dramatic illustrations of savage men and women wearing animal skins and armed with stone axes, instead of the Garden of Eden that appear in the edition 1863.
I think this book is excellent. The story is fast, exciting, original and charming. When I read this book, it was very easy for me 16 years to understand and imagine and picture that helped to see what was described. It was written in 1864 and this time it was impossible to imagine a journey to the center of the earth, so we can understand how ahead of its time of Jules Verne has been to understand science. Before reading this book, I do not think that the interior of our planet may be a hidden world of the oceans and animals prehistoric, therefore, this book has changed my mind and understand the world in general. I developed a very good impression of this book because I learned a lot of information new about the world around us. I read in the national traditions of people living in a mountain village in Iceland. And also it was very interesting to read a story was written over one hundred and forty-five years ago.
This book is about finding the center of the earth. The expedition is led by Professor Otto Lidenbrock, including Axel and their Icelandic guide Hans. Lidrnbrock across this discovery while going through a runic script. In the runic alphabet, discovers a coded message written by an Icelandic alchemist Arne Saknussemm, saying he was the center of the earth. He goes on to describe exactly how. Thus, Professor Otto Lidenbrock, Axel and Hans will Sneffels, which set aside by a cloudy sky. But the last day the sun rises and go right into the crater. Once in many faced accidents, like being in a room full of fuel gas and the face of various prehistoric creatures. After his return trip to Hamburg to great success – Professor Lidenbrock is acclaimed as one of the greatest scientists in history, Axel marries his beloved Greta and Hans returns the time his peaceful life in Iceland.
The desire to do work that hard, it survives, is the source of man's superiority over all creatures that live below the others. This has established a control, which justifies, in the world.

About the Author
My name is Eve M. Marshall and I have lived in Colorado for 20 years after following a dream I had when I was 14 and after watching the movie, “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”, I fell in love with the Rocky Mountains. Now 20 years later I am still here, living in Colorado, I’m married and have 4 boys, 2 dogs and a guardian angel. I started out as an Artist, and Editor, then a Journalist, and just
recently, a Web Administrator and still do it all. I love space, science and meteorology. I love trying out new things and my thirst for knowledge would make my parents proud. If not for my Partner and Boss, Rick Nauman, and the challenges he has put on my plate, I would not have got this far. He has shown me that I can do anything I want, and I can be good at it. He has helped me develop areas that I thought were not worth the time to bother about. He made me step out of my safety zone.
Added, July 20th. 2009
It saddens my heart to have to add that my partner, mentor, and best friend, Richard Nauman, passed away on July 7th 2009. I am devastated, heart broken, and lost. He has left a void in my life, but I feel that if I didn’t continue our plans on our sites and the new sites we had started to create then that would be dishonorable to his memory. He took the place of my own Dad who died in December 2005, Rick saw that I was “giving up” and pushed me harder to expand my horizons, even giving me a new life motto to live by,
” Tell me I can’t, and I will show you I can”.
So I will honor his memory, I will keep going, For myself and for the members of the sites we have created and that I will soon create.
