More and more people are enjoying audio books these days. Whether it is an instructional guide or a science fiction story, the comfort of being able to absorb everything without the hassle of lugging around a book is definitely amazing. The history of audio books stems back to the effort to help empower the visually impaired and giving them access to printed educational materials. The first few recorded books were mainly educational, but they have now become encompassing of many different genres, including self-help books, romance, mystery, and classic works of literature.
Audio books are great for just about anyone who wants to enjoy a good book but is short on time. Aside from the comfort of being able to do it anywhere and anytime one wants to, it is also a good way for taking down notes since it comes with pause and play options. One can also control the speed of reading, and the conversations on the books become more animating different voices play different roles, creating a varied tone for each character in the story.
Although one can buy an audiobook in online books shops, book clubs or download one from many free and paid services, there is another option which is proving popular for eager audiobook fanatics. This is basically very much like DVD rental, and one can pay a monthly fee and be able to rent one to three titles all at the same time. A good number of audio book rental services are available online. The audio books are shipped on a schedule where the customer does not have to be left without a good book at hand. However, this is limited to the US, Canada and certain parts of Europe only at the present time.
The development of audiobooks definitely deserves a warm welcome. It promotes the continuous spread of knowledge without being in the way in whatever individuals have to do on a daily basis.
