It depends. The federal government has no power to prohibit printed. State and local laws may say something obscene or pornographic any legal action comes after the fact (ie after someone was arrested for selling). obscenity laws vary. laws protecting minors of age are usually held securely – descriptions or images of children, sale of "obscene" material to children. The laws prohibiting adult obtain "obscene" is at risk. There are questions of freedom of expression the First Amendment, Jacobellis v. Ohio, created the famous "I know when I see" standard, and usually must be defined by the local community.
