best books spanish civil war
Can anyone recommend the best books, articles or websites to read about the Spanish Civil War, please?

More Specifically, I would like to know more about foreign intervention in the war and its effect on the outcome. Preferably by the authority on the subject. It would also be useful for other causes of the Nationalist victory. If you can not recommend materials, but you know something about the things mentioned above, I appreciate your comments. Thanks

Forget about its potentially politically incorrect subject manner. Shirley Temple, America’s sweetheart by the time this film was made (1935), utterly charms as Virgie Cary, a plucky baby belle during the Civil War. Virgie is the treasured daughter of a Confederate officer, Capt. Herbert Cary (John Boles). Captain Cary ventures back to his decaying plantation for but a glimpse of his beloved famil…

Gone with the Wind (70th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray]

$9.75

David O. Selznick wanted Gone with the Wind to be somehow more than a movie, a film that would broaden the very idea of what a film could be and do and look like. In many respects he got what he worked so hard to achieve in this 1939 epic (and all-time box-office champ in terms of tickets sold), and in some respects he fell far short of the goal. While the first half of this Civil War drama is tau…

The late Haley’s acclaimed book Roots was adapted into this six-volume…

Summary:In America after the Second Civil War, the Pro-Choice and Pro-Life armies came to an agreement: The Bill of Life states that human life may not be touched from the moment of conception until a child reaches the age of thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, a parent may choose to retroactively get rid of a child through a process called “unwinding.” Unwinding ensures …

For Whom the Bell Tolls

For Whom the Bell Tolls

$8.83

For Whom the Bell Tolls begins and ends in a pine-scented forest, somewhere in Spain. The year is 1937 and the Spanish Civil War is in full swing. Robert Jordan, a demolitions expert attached to the International Brigades, lies “flat on the brown, pine-needled floor of the forest, his chin on his folded arms, and high overhead the wind blew in the tops of the pine trees.” The sylvan setting…
