Some well-written books recently
If you are one of the nearly 8 in 10 people who want to write a book? It's not as easy as it sounds.
A recent survey showed that over eighty percent of Americans want to write a book. This amazing statistic is somewhat surprising given that the National Fund of the Arts estimates that only fifty-seven percent of Americans have read a single book during the last twelve months! How many books have you read in the last 12 months?
What makes people, even non-readers want to take pen?
Perhaps the desire for fame and fortune, the need to earn respect of others, or maybe just the desire to leave some mark on the future, a permanent record of a life lived. Whatever the reason, for completing a manuscript, the chances of seeing published by a reputable firm are slim.
For the 2 million manuscripts currently completed, there are only 64,000 publishers in the file, and only a fraction of them are actively seeking new manuscripts.
Although millions of authors hope to do?
Well, the first step would ensure their manuscripts are the best we can. This can be done by re-writing, editing, proofreading by an outside company or even a friend read and read and write.
Even then, most of the two million books have no chance of being accepted by a traditional publisher. The authors do not the cut is not necessarily the best writers, but they can sell and their stories more compelling.
Some authors, after the rejection of trade, find victims of vanity publishers, who benefit the hopes and aspirations of writers to extract an exorbitant fee to "publish" their book.
More fortunate are the authors publishing companies like iUniverse and Lulu, for although the books will probably never see wide distribution, so less losses will be minimal.
And finally there are the privileged few who decide to become publishers themselves, but only self-publishing his own book.
These publishers have great obstacles and much work in this direction, but the challenge and the reward for success or failure of a hand completely clean is a powerful feeling.
Choose to publish electronically, or use of printing services in the short term like a bolt print or even go full boar with a circulation of 1,000 or more, their success depends on how it sells and its history to others.
And so if you plan to write a book, learn to build in the industry. Learn to sell well. This ability will play an important role in determining how it goes.
