Read any good books lately?
I have a $30 gift certificate for Indigo/Chapters/Coles and I want to spend it on something worthwhile.
I read almost any/all genres, but I tend to lean towards sci-fi, fantasy, romance-humour, and chick books.
Please and thanks in advance. 
And no, I don’t want the Da Vinci Code.
Or Harry Potter, Narnia, Eragon or “tween” books.
House of Leaves by Danielzewski is phenomenal; even though it’s a few years old, I’m only reading it now. It redefines how text can represent events. It’s a psychological/horror experimental novel, but I think it’s a must-read for any book lover, simply because of the great strides it takes towards expression through words and formatting.
If you like sci-fi, philip k. dick is a fantastic author. The Man in the High Castle is a great read. Neal Stephenson is also a great author, with Necronomicon and Snowcrash being my favorites.
It isn’t romance humor, but you might enjoy Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. He’s the guy who wrote Fight Club. Invisible Monsters is his first novel, and is all at once hilarious, thoughtful, disturbing, and entertaining.
I’m not well-versed in romance or chick books! lol

If you’re curious, the next book I plan on reading is White Noise by Don DeLillo. I hear it foreshadows the work by Palahniuk quite a bit, so it seems interesting to me. I was only two years old when it came out, so I guess I missed out until now
