Hello. The P92 of the book, showing how to make a database log-linear. Basically, if you take the equation 6, then take logarithms of both sides ( based registration and works best), one arrives at equation 7. This shows that if you draw a graph of log (I) as a function of x, the slope of the line you will get the attenuation coefficient as (negative) gradient. See Equation 8 and Figure 41. Note that if you continue in this way (by registration of (i)), then you will intercept the y axis log (I0) – the actual plot is log (I / I 0) which means you get an intercept at y = 0.
