Differences between Malay and Indonesian
Spelling
Before the 20th century, Malay was written in a modified form of the Arabic alphabet known as Jawi. After the 20 th century, Malay written in Latin characters, known as Rumi, has almost completely replaced Jawi in everyday life. The romanization used initially in Malaysia (now part of Malaysia) and the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) reflects its position as a British possession and Dutch, respectively.
In Indonesia, the vowel "moon" the word Indonesia was represented earlier in OE, as in Holland, and the official spelling of this noise has changed to U.S. in 1947.
Similarly, until 1972, the initial consonant of the "chin" English has been depicted as ch in Malay, while in Indonesia, followed by the Netherlands and tj used. Indonesia dj left the spelling (for the consonant at the beginning of "Jakarta" word) to comply with the j is already in use in Malaysia, while Indonesia's former j for the semi-vocal early English "youth" has been replaced by them and Malay.
