Medical transcription refresher course?
I was previously a medical transcriptionist for 5 years, one year in a clinic and four years out of my home. Then I went to school to be a court reporter but that fell through. After 3 years of being away from med transcription, I would like to go back in the field but am afraid I’m a little rusty. Where can I go to look for common medical reports as well as new terminology and drug names? Don’t have any of my old books from when I initially got my diploma.
Some good books are: Medical Transcription Techniques and procedure. Also, get the new AHDI book of style. If you are really rusty Meditec.com offers an internship program and they take new MTs into the program as well. This would give you some extensive QA experience to help you get started again.
