What is the future of books in general, taking into account all information is online?
I corresponded with a known author 4 th edition of a documentary he wrote. He said he probably would not be a 5 th ed. because a large amount of information common line of a book on the subject is no longer necessary. I was saddened and shocked. What is the future of nonfiction books when you can get a lot of information which is more common on the line? Should I take on my shelf and replaced by a CD?
It's hard to say what I think. It is clear that there will always be a market for fiction books and e-commerce is already growing on it. Thus, even though most of the books still physically disappear There is a need for writers of fiction. Non-fiction is a little darker. Certainly, there are a lot of information on the Internet and most are free the public. However, it is still very difficult to find sites that contain reliable information presented is as current and accurate. The difficulty increases significantly depending on the rarity of the subject. I also imagine that there will always be a market for nonfiction books for at least electronically. However, I hope that things as revised editions to come in the form of electronic updates that are free or very cheap because of the way in which the minimum cost to implement, would be and how can be updated frequently.
