The question asked about how many people let their dogs sleep with them?
There were some answers that said letting your dogs sleep with you is not showing Pack Leadership. That it is putting them on the same level as you and therefore they no longer consider you the ‘leader’. I don’t agree and I would like some feedback from those who feel the same way.
Also, I know of a man who has written a book called The Pit Bull Training Handbook, has an extensive website and is very much the Pack Leader of his two Pits. And they both sleep with him. So I should inform Jason Mann he is not the Pack Leader because of this?
Serious feed back and leave your egos out of it. Thank you.
Great common sense answers, people! Watch for my next question. I would like to hear from all of you who answered this one.
My dog sleeps with me (actually all my dogs have always slept with me) on the bed, not under the covers. She wants to be under the covers, but I don’t let her, so I guess she has not quite made herself an equal yet. I know in the wild, pack leadership is there, but we are talking about domesticated animals. Dogs that live in our house are not the same as dogs that live in the wild. And, if the worst thing that ever happens is that my dog thinks of me as her equal, that’s fine. She behaves perfectly in the house, minds, doesn’t tear anything up, is a great companion, and goes everywhere with me where she is allowed. And, it’s kind of like having a warm water bottle snuggled up next to me.
