Some Like It Hot – 2 stars (Average)

In his time, "Some Like It Hot" was a hot ticket, to be nominated for six Oscars and a winner. Released in 1959, black and white film was also the largest platform for comedy its three main characters, Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), Joe and Josephine (Tony Curtis) and Jerry as "Daphne" (Jack Lemon). Lemon was the actor, Monroe was the sex symbol, and Curtis was the viewer.

The plot found two low-musicians on their luck (Joe and Jerry) witnessed the slaughter of the multitude Valentine gangland-style in 1929 in Chicago ban era. Joe and Jerry escaping death, then dress up as women to become "Josephine" and "Daphne", and hook with a group of girls went to a concert in sunny Florida.

Complications set in when the two discover that Sugar Kane is part of the company. Curtis falls for Playboy Monroe, but must deal with its role as Josephine and Daphne Lemon has to deal with the amorous attentions of Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown), a millionaire ex. Things heat when the chief Spats Colombo (George Raft) and his band on the spot of the heads of "convention" rabble.

Billy Wilder directed this film, fun while it also had its patience tested. Apparently, Marilyn Monroe gave new meaning to the term "dumb blonde." It took 47 takes in a scene for "It's me, Sugar" right after 30 Wilder is writing on a blackboard for her.

After 40 makes its voice heard, "Where's the bourbon?" When Monroe was rummaging through the drawers, Wilder pasted the correct line in a drawer. Monroe still unclear, so Wilder hit the line in each drawer. It took 59 takes to Monroe to get there. Tony Curtis has publicly stated that Monroe was a regular 2 to 3 hours late for the whole and sometimes refused to get out of the box.

However, Some Like It Hot has won an Oscar for best costume design by Orry-Kelly, and received nominations Oscar for Best Actor (Jack Lemon), Best Art Direction (Ted Haworth and Edward G. Boyle), Best Cinematography (Charles Lang), Best Director (Billy Wilder) and best screenplay (Billy Wilder and IAL Diamond) and did not even ask about PDI (a pseudonym for the Itec Romania Domnic home when he was a student at Columbia University).

When Orry-Kelly was the measure of the three stars of clothing, said in jest, half Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis has a better ass than you. " Monroe responded by pulling the shirt open and saying, "Yes, but not the breasts of that!" It was Hollywood in 1959.

Some Like It Hot has also won three Globes Gold for Best Comedy Film, Best Actor (Jack Lemon) and Best Actress (Marilyn Monroe). It's a good thing that voters are not on the film set.

The American Film Institute voted Some Like It Hot the funniest movie of all time. The film is number 14 on AFI's list of 100 best movies of all time.

At the end of the movie, Daphne Osgood inform "their" future millionaire husband will not be able to bear children. "We can do, "Osgood said." But you do not understand, Osgood! "Daphne says," I'm a man! "Osgood said," Well, nobody's perfect! "The line" Well, nobody's perfect "to vote as the 48th most famous quotes in film history by AFI.

And, truth is stranger that the category of fiction, a man was found a little black dress in your closet (What was he doing there?) and was surprised when respondents determined that it was worn by Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot and was estimated at $ 250.000.

Meanwhile, in Kansas in 1959 (the place made famous by Dorothy and Toto in the Wizard of Oz ") The film was banned protest in Kansas, because the cross-dressing was" very disturbing for residents of Kansas. "

I suspect Some Like It Hot may have been one of the first films with high audience to include cross-dressing in the script. How times have changed. In the context Today's liberal, we are exposed to much more frequently.

Personally, as the rate of Some Like It Hot the best comedy ever made. In my book great movies, this honor goes to "Waking Ned Devine, who provided great entertainment and also delivered a very important message relationships, not only between individuals but also entire villages.
