Public speaking is one thing. Speaking with a colleague, friend or partner is another. The purpose of the communication is to get his message and understood by the public, either to an audience of one, five, ten or hundreds.

Each requires a different context, and each situation requires a variety of music degrees.

In the case of one-to-face communication or many-to-face, the art of listening is the other side of speaking.

But it is a very important part of the communication puzzle. There have written books on active listening.

For the pleasure of the distillation of key elements:

* Contact with the eyes *

* Body language

* Silence *

* * Minimum verbal stimulus

Eye Contact: When you do and keep in touch eyes, the person speaking to you may find it helpful. By making eye contact that you are interested in your message.

Body language: if you're sitting, leaning forward, commitment and attention to show with your body. No transfer or agitated. Let your body lay still on alert.

Stills: A of the hardest things about communication is to keep your mouth shut! So let moments of silence, which gives a person the opportunity to continue talking without having to deny something that could be inserted into silence. Active listening requires that you fully in all that the other person says, digest and then respond.

Minimal verbal encouragement: Do not assume you know what that is and try to complete the sentences. To remain silent and wait for the person to finish before forming his response will allow better communication to occur.

Stick speech communication is a method for producing physically without interruption. History is told in ancient Indian culture in a circle met to discuss a question. The speech Stick "is adopted and each speaks of the following rules: the one with the stick in his hands could speak the time he wanted, without interrupting others. When he had finished he finally had to say, the control is passed to the next person.

This method can actually be used in a situation of very effective. This is a physical reminder that we must remain silent and empathy when the other person is the stick and said his piece. When finished, then you can take the stick and take the time to train your answer before verbalize.

If an active listening more complete article may include a number of other elements, I would like to mention another element: the tactics of reprocessing and other changes writing to another verbal message.

Reformulating the message, as saying "I understand that you feel X, Y and Z," said another person who understands the message, and the conversation can continue with each side knowing that communication is a positive move forward and achieve the objectives.
