I am Backpacking in Australia in January 2011 and i am needing some Questions answered Please HELP!!!!?
My friend and I are going to Australia in January we are going on a working visa, the main things that i think we are worried about is we are going ot take with us £2500 each then we are going ot get a job do you think that would be enough to start us off?? also how easy is it to get into a hostel without booking it?? ad is there anyway of saving money on anything like bus travel, eating ect. this is our first time travelling and we are going to go with a thing called Oz intro has anyone heard of this? is it any good?? also how easy is it to get a job in Australia we have alot of Experience in call centres, retail, bar work ect. I think the only thing we are Worried about is not having anywhere to stay and if we will have enough money, I do hope that someone can help me it would be very appreciated

I think you’ll be fine getting work with experience, bring references if you have them. Hostels arent a problem, you may have to book if you are staying in really popular places on the coast in summer but aside from that it should all be fine. Normally your money would be double but the Aussie dollar much stronger and pound so low that now its worth $4155 (approx) but may be worth a little less by then. Are you taking cash? Why not use the ATM? Its safer. As for saving money on travel and eating, you will just have to keep an eye out. Dont go with tourist deals, they’ll see you coming and charge you throught he nose! Check out STA travel online or book ahead for internal flights etc. Its a big country and travel isnt cheap due to distances covered. When backpacking I used to always get the overnight bus so it saved on a nights accomodation.
You’ll figure it all out and it will be an amazing adventure!! Australia is such a beautiful place! but then Im a little biased
