How to calculate the initial price of an item when all I know is the content of VAT.?
I am a bookseller, which also sells Vatable gifts. The spreadsheet application that use two digits accounts, the amount of VAT free sales (books are zero rated VAT) and tax amount sales. My system EPOS Vatable know what items are and what not, and gives me two numbers, the amount of sales (total) and the amount of VAT they have imposed (17.5% Vatable of my sales). Is there a way to calculate my sales value Vatable if I know the amount of VAT know if it is not necessary to completely rewrite my work spreadsheet? Well … So, thanks to my vague memory of high school algebra, and Wolfram Alpha, I know that the algebraic formula that need to work in this madness is: y = (x * 100) / 117.5, z = xy, z [amount of VAT] When x = total price, including VAT = Price, and Z = Y Wat content. Alfa calculated Wolfram although the exact figures. How could express this in a spreadsheet without having to create formulas for self-refferencial?
a simple division. Donations VAT is 17.5%. It is 0175 in decimal form. 100% (total) is 1.00 in decimal. Together, they are in decimal GrossPrice 1175 / 1.175 = NetPrice for example, £ 100 (VAT Inc! 7.5%) 100 / 1,175 = £ 85.10 (excluding VAT) If you knew all was the component of VAT, you know that this part is 17.5% (or 0175) of the network (or 7 / 40 of it). For price for the VAT component known to ask "is 17.5% VATcomponent this number?" Suppose you have a component of £ 14.90 VAT. What was the price net? 14.9 * 100 / 1490 17.5 / 17.5 = 85.14 if VAT was £ 14.90, the price charged was £ 85.14 The gross price is £ 100.04
