What is the best way to protect my pdf ebook?
I have recently written a ebook that i want to sell online. However i am a bit worried about people copying it and sharing it out on file sharing websites.
I was have been looking into password protecting my PDF. But from all the books i read about writing ebooks the authors do not recommend that as they say it is too much customer support problems.
I bought an ebook the other day form Manning.com an i noticed that they stamped my name and email address on the bottom of the book as a footer. That seemed like a good idea but i am not sure how to do that myself.
So my question is does anyone have any good suggestions on how to protect my ebook or even how to do the stamping ?

We provide a web based service for stamping PDF ebooks on the fly. This means that when one of you customers buys your ebook it will automatically be stamped with their name and email address on each page as a header or footer.
It seems that PDF security options such as locking and passwords end up meaning too much customer support hassle and is a real drain on your time with people forgeting password etc.
We find ebook stamping is a middle ground protection and acts as a very good deterrent against people sharing out files on torrent sites. All the big publisher are doing it now with great success.
