It depends what books you want. Some books will always be costly due to high demand. Make sure you have the exact name and the exact edition of the book you need, then try these:

Another way to save money on textbooks is to re-sell them after you’ve used them. The best place (i.e., the highest prices) to sell is amazon.com. Make sure you don’t damage the book or write in it while you use it — this will reduce the potential value when reselling. Then when you’re finished with it, list it on amazon.com. Some of your books will be out-of-date and you won’t get much if anything for them. Others you will be able to resell for as much as 80% of the original price. If you’re careful to be a good seller (e.g., by always describing your books accurately and shipping promptly and using quality packing materials), you can continue selling for several years and end up saving a lot of money on books for school.
