Many people think that the history of teaching students of origin should be to boring lectures and reading many pages of a textbook. Simply because that's how most of us have been taught, does not mean that the best way to learn about history. I personally have developed a real love for the history of education and playing with my kids never had to be in school. Here are some tips you can use to teach their own children:
1. The use of tools that can bring history to life for you and your students. Read "living books" or historical fiction. The use of interactive DVD and Web sites take you to places of historical interest.
2. Help your children understand that history is more than just a job facts. Everyone loves stories. Read holiday stories of people who lived in another era. When you read enough historical fiction or biographies, music history begins to fall into place. Help them understand that history is a collection of stories of real people. To be included in this story for several years from now.
3. Choose a time in history in the study. Not too wide or too narrow. If you find that you put too much information in one year, then extend the study of this period of history in the coming year if desired.
4. Have a master calendar and fill the people they are studying. Funny how the lives of different people overlap. They can see that a person born just before another person dies.
5. Read about different people in the same period in history. This helps children understand how history can be skewed based on the opinion of a person. The bias should not be considered good or bad. Is just the story of history from the perspective of that person. You can read the westward expansion from the viewpoint of the colonists and also from an indigenous perspective.
6. The use of excursions, performances, crafts and read stories that strengthen or era of history as you explore.
learning history can be fun and enjoyable if you use a variety of resources and have the right perspective. Choose a period of history and learn all about the stories related to this period. Then use the resources mentioned here and see you and your children develop a greater understanding of history.
