Enhancing Learning Of Arabic Language By Utilizing Your Preferred Learning Style
Arabic is certainly one of the longest surviving and thriving modern languages. It is the fifth most widely common spoken language, with more than 280 million native speakers and almost an equal number of non-native ones. It is also known as the language of the religion and with the increased interaction between the West and the Arab, especially as a direct result of the war in Iraq, it does seem that; there is greater reason for us to learn to speak Arabic. Understanding the language is an indirect way to understand the culture and the people.

You may have your own reasons to learn Arabic. Once you had decided to learn Arabic, the next step is to find the ways to learn it. Basically you can choose one or combination of the following modes:
1. Face to face, classroom or individual tuition.- This is the traditional way of learning new languages. It is time tested system,although it can be expensive and restrictive. However it gives you the opportunity to speak Arabic.
2. eLearning/Blended. Normally offered by organizations and the course in interactive. Blended learning uses combination of face-to-face course and e-learning.
3. CD’s. The course is flexible and learning can take place at any place and any time. Your learning of Arabic language can repeated at your discretion.
4. Free Video’s and internet resources – Internet contains thousand of resources. However it unstructured and unaudited, as such the quality is unknown.
5. Books. To be used as added resources to complement your learning.
Selecting the methods of learning
The followings are the issues that needed to review in selecting the method to learn Arabic:
1. Know your own self: Are you the kind of person who have a strong self discipline and work towards the goal, once the goal has been determined. E-learning and CDs are good, but 80% of the participants will not be able to complete it simply because of the lack of discipline. Face to face courses will fare better as it has the social interaction elements that provide the peer pressure to learn.
2. Learning Style: Each of us has our own preferred learning style. Some prefer to do it in groups, while others perform better alone. Some learn by doing while others learn by reading and reflecting. These have the effect on which method you want to use. Normally learning foreign languages requires the learner to practice and interact with proficient speakers. This can be obtained from the face-to-face learning.
3. Other Considerations: Of course you have the final discretion in the selection process. There are other valid reasons such as your financial positions, whether you have the time or whether the courses are available locally.
The Cds can be shared with the family. So if the family is planning to go to Morrocco for holiday, then everybody can join the learning.
People learn by using a combination of various style, but the preferred style will often gives better result. There is testing mechanism available in internet to test your preferred learning style.
