Any one know any good free ways to learn to speak basic italian?
Im looking for an easy way to learn how to speak some basic italian. I would like to be able to carry a simple conversation, and ask for direction, or help and order stuff at restaurants. I know there is no EASY WAY, what i mean is the fastest,chespest,simplest, yet effective way. So any info…books,cds,downloads, something i can put on my ipod would be great.

For what you need, any “survival italian” course will do. Just look it up on google, there’s loads of them.

But, as the other answerer suggested, it would be even better if you could chat a bit with a native speaker. You can do this on any language-exchange website, like www.sharedtalk.com .
