Agapao Why does not mean "unconditional love, God of God" – and Phileo Can not say, "brotherly love"
The love. It seems that an important area for Christianity. In fact, one could even argue that it is an essential element of faith! Christian After But the first commandment is the requirement of love of God – with all our heart, mind, soul and strength (Mark 12:30). The second commandment requires us to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31)! This "love" cover all our vital relationships – a neighbor of oneself and the Creator! But the centrality of this doctrine "Love" goes further. The Bible says that love fulfills the law (Romans 13:8-10 and Galatians 5:14)! Therefore all the requirements of the law of God … are met by love? "It is obviously made of something that has the ability to meet the requirements of any theocracy of the Old Testament! Is believed worthwhile research and research!
So … What is love? If we respond to these commands, we need some kind of definition. How do we know if we are satisfied your needs?
A common teaching
There are two New Testament Greek words often translated as "love" in English. That the common statement – perhaps the common teaching – on the meaning of these two Greek words.
1) agapao (verb); Agapee (Noun). Agapee God is (1 Jn 4:8). Just as God Himself is agapee, and since it is divine, it follows logically that act (the verb) in divine love – agapao. Agapee origin in God, and can never fail (1 Corinthians 13:8). This is clearly the highest form of love. Therefore, the teaching of many / resources agapee agapao " the divine, unconditional love of God. "He also taught that non-Christians are separated from this love, but converting one enters into this love. But there more! The convert becomes a mere recipient of this love of God. He / she becomes a conduit for this "stranger-to-the-world" flow through love. With Christ in the Christian, divine love of God can flow without conditions on around him, the Christian. And agapao as an act of God (unconditional and unwavering) actions or reactions, the target object is not so much that finally this love is independent human assignments.
2) Phileo (verb) (noun). 'S This is defined as "brotherly love" or "Philos love." It is the love expressed by unregistered persons. Therefore, it is a lesser form agapao of love divine. Ultimately, it is a kind of self-centered love that there are conditions on it – though not easily detectable. As a mere human love, which is naturally unstable and can turn situations and conditions change. The word is transliterated, Philadelphia (philia adelphphia women. ") Means" City of Brotherly Love "and is often cited as an example of phileo sense.
This seems quite learned education, as it uses the original language of New Testament. It is also very attractive, since it separates the pure love and holy God corruptible fickle affections that arise periodically from unbelievers. That sounds great! But the part of Christians to enter the divine love of God (agapao) during the conversion – the love of the world does not know – it's phenomenal. And when you add the conversion can be If a funnel to God that if the flow – spontaneously, without any conditions, even for God – all around you – what a rush! The only problem with this teaching … is that it is false. How I can be so sure of this statement?
I was taught, and believes, common teaching agapao meaning and phileo (reported above). He came by biblical scholars, and even taught in several names that had been exposed. I had no no reason to doubt the correctness of this teaching as "secular" and knew only English. And certainly an important theme – love – teaching was correct. But then I went to Bible College. After finishing my first year of "beginners Greek," I started reading the Gospel of John – the simplest the Greek New Testament. In describing what happened next, I will quote directly from my book, "Love and the Bible" (Articles 11.9, 13 and 19).
When I started at John, everything was fine. Finally, I John 3:16. "For God so loved (agapao) in the world that He gave His only begotten Son … "I thought," I know the word! It is the love of God! Is love in the world are unable to produce! ! "I met with the legend was there – the powerful, exclusive love of God – in all its purity and transcendence! A love generated from deep in the heart of our loving Creator designed without any conditions in a world unworthy! I thought, "Wow!" It's great! "I continued my journey with enthusiasm for John. Then three verses later ….
I arrived at 3:19. John "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, men have (agapao) darkness instead of light …." I took a second, then said, "Hey, what? "I read the verse again. I surprised. Even now, twenty years later, that moment is still frozen in time. I thought, "I have not read what I read. It This statement impossible. Men … of divine love – the dark? "WHAT?" How can men divinely love in the dark? "I saw agapao was in the mood, the aorist active voice, so immediately went to my dictionary to make sure that agapao. … In fact that era. In disbelief, I reread it and inserted the definition of agapao had learned ". … And the men had a divine unconditional love – Love God, love of God -! the dark! "The harsh reality hit me then -" agapao can not mean God's love, love! Error … I was taught coming! "Aughhhhhhh issue. And there is a central element of Christianity is love? I say – alarms went off everywhere! A biblical understanding of Love is essential – Everything in so far as Christianity is concerned! We are commanded to love God, love our neighbor, love our wives, our children love, love brotherly love life, love His coming – to love our enemies! Do not love money, love seat head, love the first … love is everywhere – in attitudes, behaviors, actions and reactions …. "I failed to learn about love!" For me, this has created an emergency situation the first order. But, as I am interested in your comments, I want you now to a survey I have on my site. He asks:
"The information has been subjected to
1) create an emergency first-order
2) only piqued my interest
3) does not create an emergency in all or
4) did nothing, as I do not know what the hell is talking. "
The search for truth begins forever!
Simply tell God something once so it is always true and full power. But if we can find other witnesses corroborated his speech on a particular topic, which will help us be sure they understand and represent their views views on this subject. In this spirit, I immediately grabbed Greek concordance to examine all uses of the word agapao. The verb form appears almost 150 times in the New Testament. Here are five of them.
2 Tim 4:10 "Demas, who loved (agapao) the present world, deserted me …"
2 Peter. 2:15 "… they (false teachers) … gone the way of Balaam … he loved (agapao) the wages of unrighteousness.
Jn 12:43 "For them (the Pharisees) loved (agapao) the approval of men rather than God's approval. "
Luke 11:43 "Woe to you Pharisees! To Love (agapao) in the front seats synagogues and (as you like – agapao). respectful greetings in the streets "
Lk 4:13 pm "No servant can serve two masters: you either hate the one and love (agapao) the other …. You can not serve God and mammon. "
There are sixteen applications agapao / agapee in this regard. These are described below.
"Ohhh … What phileo?"
Immediately, one word comes to mind. "Phileo What? That means" love Brotherly Love Is a man less than agapao? " Within minutes, I phileo discovered that he had nothing to do with brotherly love! NOTHING! In John 5:20, Jesus says: "For the Father loves (phileo) the Son and shows him what he did …." In this passage, is an activity phileo between God the Father and the Son of God! This "substance" is generated within God the Father and his goal is the Son of God! The man is completely out of the loop! I, "Phileo can not say" brotherly love or love of a second type of man! He can not! Moreover, how can it be less than when agapao generated by God Himself? "
So I was there ….
So I stood there, six years after my experience Christian – With the slightest idea of what the Bible really teaches about love! What treachery! I had innocently relied on the integrity of the Greek "scholars" in my past – and disseminate their errors – false teaching – their heresy! And the issue Stray – Love! What is an object to stop! According to feelings of shock, anger and pain … has come to resolve fresh. A trip I was presented the day I found the statement that "men loved (agapao) the darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil "(Jn 3:19).
My starting point
Although I do not know what the Bible teaches on this subject, I knew. Agapao could not say that God's love and Phileo could not say fraternal, or man, love. So I know most of my "teachers" I knew it! This encouraged me a bit. Things can only get better – if God grant me the wisdom, intelligence and insight to grow in truth. So I asked for help. This is my starting point. If this sounds reasonable, maybe you could take a moment to ask the same thing.

The truth is that agapao abounds around us, practiced by sinners and saints alike. And is directed towards animate and inanimate objects! It uses the money to places of honor, and the world! Once you understand what is agapao, they begin to recognize their presence around him. The Bible does not list all uses of agapao expressed in its pages. But it gives enough examples to our journey to see their expressions and activities in this world. You see, there is no shortage of agapao – If you see it or not, if you understand what it is or not, or if you are willing to admit it or not. And sinners that arises in all directions as "the dark agapao!" (Jn 3:19).
Phileo

So agapee agapao and expressed by man (registered and unregistered), and by God. Phileo is also expressed by human (Recorded and unrecorded), and by God! View man and God at once.
I've heard that many of you are now asking: "What agapao / Agapee say? And what phileo? Why are so many Greek scholars in error in what the Bible teaches about love? "Well, the intention of this article was to explain that agapao / agapee can not say, "especially serious, the divine love of God" – and Phileo Can not say, "brotherly love "This was simply quoting Bible passages to confuse. These definitions. Even those who have no knowledge of the Greek New Testament we can see these definitions not possible – which refutes the common teaching in biblical love. For you know that these Greek words actually mean – and why so many "experts" are such a big mistake – you can find in my free ebook, "Love and the Bible" at my website listed in the biography of the author. Of course … perhaps an accurate understanding what the Bible teaches about love does not really matter ….
