What should I sell on eBay? Part 1

Probably received more emails about this than anyone else. Buyers read our basic expectation manual, they want to start selling, but I can not understand what to sell or how to begin.

If you are a new seller, my first advice is clean the garage or attic. You should gain some experience in sales before you go and buy a larger lot wholesale merchandise.

Start with the sale of goods used, small appliances, wedding gifts you never use, old books (a non-fiction is the best), used sporting goods, clothing (Leather jacket that large that does not suit you or that pair of cowboy boots you have purchased your business trip to Dallas, but never wear). The experience we gain will be of great value, no capital or an investment beyond some small eBay fees.

Almost everything is for sale on eBay. One night, watching the sport of curling in the Winter Olympics, I thought a curling stone doorstop would be attractive and conversation to my office. During the announcement eBay went online and found dozens of curling stones for sale. One now has an open door to the billiard room.

Next turn to your hobbies and interests. Too many sellers think that the only way to make money is to buy hundreds of the latest hot selling items and making dozens of auctions. The problem is that hundreds other vendors do the same. (If you do not think I do a search for diet pills, or reinforcement of cell phones) As you gain experience can move these markets, but this area is full of dangers for the new provider. There are many companies with enough money to import these items directly by the thousands and any person buying cheaper through a distributor or wholesaler.

Sell something that you know something. Almost everyone sees "something." If you are knowledgeable about a collection object or an object of art, then you have the opportunity to do research to find products at prices you can resell.

Once you gain experience, try to focus on higher dollar items. If you win on sale for $ 2.00, you must close it (and send) 1000 auctions a month to $ 2.000.

Another technique is to sell items in bulk. If you purchased a large box of video tapes in a garage sale, separated into categories and sell as a batch. You're going to make more money selling them individually. This also works for clothes. There are vendors who buy children's clothes from garage sales, order by size and gender and sell it in batches. One of my neighbors did this. Usually pay between $ 3 to $ 6 in total more pieces of clothing that can get more than $ 20 on eBay. She did the same with the closing of the dealers. She's going to buy a pallet load of new clothes for the children, ordering by size and sold in batches of 5 or 10 pieces. Even if I could do a little selling individual pieces, this way of selling faster, the average sale is bigger and inventory turns over time much more often than otherwise.

The eBay seller I know many large purchases of items on eBay selling hot (spent cell phone, pocket knives, etc.) and turns around and sells them in batches of 10 or 25 to other eBayers who want to buy for resale. He has recently imported 50,000 lighters Disposable Korea bought about 11 cents each. EBay has sold in batches of 500 for 36 cents each. He won $ 125 on each lot unless their rates eBay. I asked who bought lighters and said most of its buyers flea market, gas station and convenience store owners who sell lighters at the counter for 99 cents each.

Everyone wants to sell computers, software, movies, DVDs, digital cameras and all type of consumer electronics. The sad reality is that Sony, Panasonic, Canon and others not to sell their latest products most popular small traders who work outside from home. (Actually, do not sell anything, except through his master distributors.) Even department stores are struggling to achieve a wide range of hot products.

You can enter this business if many market and product knowledge (such as working in a computer store) and has the contacts to buy goods. The problem is you are competing with the big stores, some of which sell under their own name and others who sell under the names of blind users. One of the ways the successful sale of consumer electronics is full and about the goods. Millions of dollars of consumer electronics, computers and software are distributors sold by the end of each week. The trick is to really know what you are buying and be able to work with small margins and turn your inventory more often. Unfortunately, it takes a little investment capital to compete in this area.

There is also a big market for sale in eBay.es the vintage hi-fi equipment, cameras, old computers and hardware and so on. Last year, Akai tape deck found a reel to reel a garage sale for $ 25 and the seller threw in 10 rolls of tape. Cover sold on eBay for just under $ 200 10 and ribbon sold separately rollers another auction for $ 30. I met a director of product last year eBay eBay live at the first event in Anaheim. She sells time Apple computers, parts and software. She buys almost all garage sales, flea markets and antique markets.

Drop shipping is another strategy used by new vendors. I hesitate to recommend working with drop shippers because many of them are not very reliable.

The problem with drop shipping, your return is line. If the drop shipper is temporarily out of stock or otherwise screw your order – it is their view that will suffer. When you start one or two negative feedback comments you can set the month before. Also available to most drop shippers are very common and sell for hundreds of other vendors.

If you are really short of money, you can use a drop shipper temporarily. As soon as you can afford it, but I would start buying in bulk directly from wholesalers and / or distributors. You will have more money and greater control of your business.

When people ask me, "What I sell," I'm usually also wondered why most of the items sold on eBay. Ie hot sellers.

Here is a list of hot items currently for sale on eBay. This is not a recommendation of what sells. Each of these areas produces is heavy with its own dangers.

* Diet Pills
* Nutritional Sex Enhancers
* Cell Phone Boosters
* Pheromone Perfume
* Glass Chess
* Jewelry at low prices
* Luxury Watches and Jewelry
* Heritage Jewelry
* Used toys in good condition
* New and used clothing for children's clothing and plus sized for women
* Western wear and cowboy boots, belts, shirts, leather jackets, etc.
* The software (such as closed-out or last year's software and games)
Plumas * Strobe
* Tools (power and hand tools)
* Perfume (including perfume samples and opened expensive perfumes that are at least more than half full)
* Perfume bottles (some with or without perfume)
* Religious books and Bibles (Bibles are always a perennial seller)
* Non-fiction books for entertainment, sports, nautical subjects, history, military science, popular science books, and art and photography. Also books containing maps and reproductions which can be split and sold separately.
* Maps and old prints of ships, flowers, animals (horses and dogs are high)
* Used Automotive Specialty Auto Parts (Porsche, BMW, GM, etc)
* Low mileage Japanese cars and vans
* The models of cars and vintage cars
* Signed Sports Collectibles

I could go on – but these are some of the best selling items on eBay today. (I'm sure I missed some)

If you want to know what to sell on eBay, probably the best piece of advice I can give new sellers must be unique and specialized. Find a market place, everything about it and it works again and again.
