National Iranian Oil Company

History
Main article: William Knox D'Arcy, the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, Iran and 1953 coup
National Iranian Oil Company was founded in 1951 under the leadership of Prime Minister Mossadegh, Mohammad when the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company was nationalized. After of the 1953 coup that overthrew Mossadegh became an international consortium of oil companies: 40% owned Anglo-Iranian taking five U.S. companies 40% and Royal Dutch Shell / and the French Oil Company holding 10% each. The consortium will share the profits 50-50 with Iran, but "no open its books to Iranian auditors or to allow the Iranians in its board of directors. "According to the website of the company: The victory of Islamic Revolution revoked the consortium agreement of 1954 and its regulations. The seizure of power by the Islamic Republic led to the withdrawal of foreign employees in the oil industry of Iran domestic workers control over their affairs.
The NIOC's oil reserves

According to OPEC NIOC recoverable reserves of liquid hydrocarbons at the end of 2006 was 138.4 billion barrels.
NIOC oil reserves in early 2001 it was reported to about 99 billion barrels, but in 2002 the results of the study showed a huge upgrade NICK reserves by the addition of about 31.7 million barrels recoverable reserves of oil reserves in Iran.
After 2003, Iran has made important discoveries involving an increase of another 7.7 billion barrels of recoverable reserves of Iran.
In April 2006, the Fars news agency reported that Iran has begun plans for a DPO. National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has begun construction of 15 storage tanks for crude oil with a planned capacity of 10 million barrels.

Organizational Structure
The company is fully arrested by the Iranian government. NIOC General Assembly, composed of the President, Vice President, General Manager of the Management Organization and Planning, the Ministers of Petroleum, Energy, Industry and Mines, Labour and Social Affairs, Economics and Finance is the highest organ of the body marking, the determination of the general public of policy guidelines, and approval of annual budgets, operations and financial statements and balance sheets. Company Board of Directors has the authority and major responsibilities to approve operational plans ratified by the General Assembly's approval transactions and contracts, and prepare budgets and reports of the Board and annual reports for submission to the General Assembly.
The Board oversees the implementation of general policy guidelines set by the General Assembly, and continued its operations through the leadership of Director General of the company.

With the proper division of functions and delegation of responsibilities to subsidiaries, affiliates, NIOC was able to establish acceptable degrees of coordination within its organizational framework. In fact, the Directors of NIOC act primarily in policy formulation and monitoring while subsidiaries act as the executive arm in coordinating a series of operations such as exploration, drilling, production and delivery of oil oil and natural gas for export and domestic consumption.
