
Life story of Louis Wain 1860-1939 Funny Animals and art
Louis William Wain was born in London Clerkenwell in London on 5. August 1860. In the period between the years 1880 to the outbreak of World War I, reigned supreme over the humor of cats and animals, especially the 'Louis Wain cat was recognized throughout the world. Louis Wain cats appeared in art prints, comics, newspapers, books, magazines, greeting cards and annual reports. Wain cats are in all human activities – from golf and other sports, digging roads, Playing music.
In its first years was a child sickly and often skipped school. He attended primary school in Hackney and Orchard Street San Jose Foundation Academy, Kennington.
Wain was born Cleft lip and the doctor gave orders that parents should not be sent to school or to teach until he was ten. As a teenager, often absenteeism school, and spent much of his childhood wandering around London. After this period, Louis studied at the Art School West London and eventually became a professor for a short period. At the age of 20, Wain was left to support his mother and sisters after the death of his father.
Referring to his family, Louis Wain's father had moved to London from Leek in Staffordshire, where he met Felice July Boiteux (Anglo-French) who attended the same Catholic Church Roman. They married in 1859. He had five younger sisters (two of which have become competent artists) and his father worked as a textile salesman and his mother designed Church fabric and carpets.
At 17, he tried to become a musician if there is no proof of the success of today. Louis Wain and decided to study and training School of Art in West London (1877 – 1882) and remained as an assistant professor until he left in 1882.
After his father – William Wain died 1880, had to support his mother – Julie Wain and his five younger sisters.
To help support his family, he became a freelance illustrator (initially influenced by Caldecott and May).
He began making a name with pictures of dogs and animals in different countries shows that the top dog and the British Exhibition Crystal Palace National in 1882 (which later became known as Crufts).
In 1884, Louis Wain married Emily Richardson (housekeeper of her younger sister). Shortly after she married, she contracted breast cancer. He brought Emily a kitten called Peter, and I know, he started drawing Peter in humorous situations and poses.
I wanted to show his drawings of cats to some editors, some comments were – "He who wants to see a picture of a cat."
The break had been anticipated in 1886 was when he drew illustrations for a children's book in several cat. After this, Sir William Ingram, the owner Illustrated London News has commissioned a drawing of a story "Christmas Kitten. It contained 200 cats, took 11 days to complete and led by Wain" Overnight Celebrity. " With the success of his paintings curious cat, who began making his reputation here in Britain and America, and its funny cat pictures were seen in the comics, newspapers and magazines. These images were so successful that his life would never be the same. Unfortunately, it was tinged with sadness that his wife died shortly after but knowing that Louis Wain had become a great success.

In 1886 he joined the staff of The Illustrated London News. It was the first illustrator to work consistently Representative Convention in dress and live animals.
Contributed to "our new customers and Comics comic book store children Beautiful pictures" in 1896 and "Jingles. Jokes & Funny People" in 1898. 1902 saw the word "Catland" often associated with the illustration Wain, and publishing "Pa My cats cats and kittens. "His anthropomorphic vision of the world soon made him famous, and therefore, was elected President of the British National Cat Club in 1898 and 1911.
In 1904, Louis Wain wrote a book entitled "Land of the Animals with Louis Wain 'which was a great success. In 1907, he invested all their savings in a number of pottery with images based on their cats funny and most of them sent to the United States. Unfortunately, across the Atlantic, the ship capsized and all Louis Wain ceramics went to the bottom of the sea because of this misfortune Louis Wain went bankrupt and decided on a temporary move to the United States. Has produced comics in the United States in New York (1907-1910) and many other American countries, comics, newspapers and magazines.
After his mother died in 1910, he returned to England in the coming years, continued production of books and supply pictures to various comics, newspapers and magazines.
Fantasy continued drawing cats for various newspapers and comic books at the end of the First World War. Meanwhile, in 1917 it was thought experience in the animation and the movie was called "toes." Oh, who decided not to pursue this project and if the world has lost an opportunity genius of comic art movement of the cat in the animation. This year was a turning point in the history of Louis Wain's cats. His sister Caroline died and fell a bus and hit his head.
After recovering from these setbacks his cats became more frenzied, surreal, jagged and sharp. In 1917 he was also diagnosed as a schizophrenic who, unfortunately, remains with him for the rest of his life. During the onset of their disease at 57, Wain continued paint, draw and sketch cats.
In 1924, because the economic climate and the slow recovery of GB after WW1 Louis Wain Art became less popular and fell into poverty when mental health deteriorated and finally his family had declared insane and committed to poor service at Springfield Hospital (Previously Haven County Surrey) in Tooting, London on June 16, 1924. In 1925 he was discovered by a visitor to the hospital painting his funny cat pictures. The visitor said he artist images reminiscent of the famous cats of Louis Wain. Imagine his surprise when the artist turns to the visitor and exclaimed that he was indeed Louis Wain. After the visitor told the world of Louis Wain's hospitalization, his admirers started a campaign that included Prime Minister Ramsey Macdonald, HG Wells and George King, who helped create a foundation that was established to allow Wain to spend the last years of his life in asylums welfare of citizens as the Bethlehem Hospital in a private room where continued treatment. HG Wells portrays Louis Wain best when he said in a broadcast in 1925 in an attempt to raise money for poor artists, three generations are bred cats Louis Wain and nurseries few have been without his paintings. He made the cat itself. He invented a cat style, a cat society, a whole cat world. English cats that do not look and live like Louis Wain cats are ashamed of themselves.
Sometime in late 1920, he was sent to San Jaime Campos, Southwark, where he continued painting and draw his cats.
In 1930 he was transferred to hospital Napsbury near Saint Albans, where he continued painting and drawing to the end of his days. Exposures his works are held in London in 1931 and 1937. 4. July Louis Wain died in hospital Napsbury. He is buried in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Harrow Road, London NW10 (next to Kensal Green Cemetery in London) next to the graves, and their five sisters and their parents.

Luis often lectures on the welfare of cats and encourages them to take stray cats, and not just pure-bred cats. He was elected president and chairman of the National Cat Club, where he served for many years, and the logo he designed for the National Cat Club is still used today. He also participated in many other animals (especially cats), charities and groups.
