The Clock Work Orange and the Portrait of Dorian Gray?
I'm in Honors English 9. I am in need of a mystery novel or suspense (or both). First, is the portrait of Dorian Gray falls into one of these genres? and secondly, I really want to read these books? A Clock Work Orange looks very interesting, but I fear that the language is too difficult to understand completely. If anyone has read any of these, you can tell me if you liked the game or not?
Hello! I've read two books from beginning to end several times. Portrait of Dorian Gray is not really a mystery or a thriller, not until the end – is more of a literary work / Philosophically. A Clockwork Orange is a bit of suspense, mystery, but not – is classified as a "dystopia," or a book – usually a combination science fiction ideas about what is morally right – based on the author's idea of a hellish world. I suggest you go with A Clockwork Orange. The writing style is more common, and the story is more attractive and easier to follow. You can also enjoy the film version, although it differs from the book in several ways. The strange words that Anthony Burgess used is called "Nadsat" and there are online dictionaries to help translate – as Location: http://soomka.com/nadsat.html Do not worry, you'll be surprised how quickly you'll use for words. Anyway, I'll be honest – I like it, but Portrait of Dorian Gray is played much harder. It can be boring or confusing, and difficult to get parts if they know a lot of philosophy. A Clockwork Orange, however, is much easier and faster reading and the story is really fascinating. It also raises a question cool: If you arrived at a special method to force people to be good, is it morally acceptable? Or should they choose to be good? It also messes with your mind a little because the main character seems at first like a terrible person who does terrible things, but as the book progresses, one begins to sympathize with him.
