The Roots of Nirvana
No band develops in a vacuum, and each group begins to think, at least some other musicians who want to taking or after rebelling against. But Nirvana was the first large group of contemporary music snobs: record demons wanted it clear exactly what they heard. All they loved Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith and CCR and the Kiss and Black Sabbath and Led Zep some more on top of this. In general, however, Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic had raised as children of punk rock in the Pacific Northwest. Were in the Melvins in Aberdeen Washington, were forced by circumstances to determine their position regarding K Records and the Olympia scene and carried documents Flipper and Bad Brains as shields to protect the outer layers. (Dave Grohl has a roughly equivalent experience to grow in the Washington area.) When they hit the big time, covering their favorite bands to open for Nirvana, wore their shirts at every opportunity I have. Kurt work even oversaw reissues of 'lost their beloved Raincoats.
Where there was no ambiguity about who saw Nirvana left their ancestors, are all contained in Kurt's Journals – the scribblings of an avid ListMaker clearly even liked to write the names of their albums favorites such as talismans of luck and good karma punk rock. Some discs run again and again in the music of Kurt cemeteries, some are multi war horses (you know The Beatles, Aerosmith Rocks), others are desperately dark (the Land Shark Fang, self-titled album Tales of Terror). Most of them, however, are notable indie-rock and hardcore records of the 80, with a few punk records ARTIER Europe and the album released Leadbelly inevitable in worth investigating for those who are not commodities like Nirvana Cobain and Novoselic and Dave Grohl transmuted into gold, which is what the band aspired.
Best of Leadbelly

Release Date: 2003
When Nirvana played their cover of Leadbelly heartbreaking "where did you sleep last night?" (Aka "In the Pines") on MTV Unplugged seemed a movement unexpected to the blue blood that remains so powerfully courses through the veins of rock. In fact, if Kurt does not seem to have been in the blues and the crop in general – loved it Leadbelly obsessive (and had already recorded four songs with Mark Leadbelly Screaming Trees' Lanegan) This collection. is a solid introduction to the "king of twelve-string guitar, a former convict who miraculously growl emerged from his personal music horrors happy.
Surfer Rosa / Come On Pilgrim
Artist: The Pixies
Release Date: 1988
Kurt called the album 1988 "a molten metal fossil of a spaceship," and some favorite things Pixies – rhythms increasingly time loop that has never been used before all cleansing tonic verse that flourished in the explosive voice, distorted – was not matter in a few years later. Steve Albini nice-to-your-engineering skull here is obviously inspired by Nirvana In Utero rentals, too. But most of what Nirvana was obtained from the Pixies was an attitude: the feeling being out of balance and cry at the same time maintaining a walk and controlled structure.
On the edge
Artist: Wipers

Nirvana and Hole Wipers eventually covered two songs, "So Young", this album could easily be mistaken for an original Cobain.

If you were a punk rock boy in Aberdeen, Washington in the mid 80's, IT Melvins, have reached their brutal hardcore with metal, which could play blazingly fast or tortuously slow, he had to play in Olympia and Seattle and convenient location was the site of the local punk scene. Jamboree
Artist: Beat Happening
Release Date: 1988
In some respects, Kurt never fit in Olympia K records, its flagship band Beat Happening and the "love-rock" scene around of them – too much belly rubbing, not enough-intestinal shock – but he loved it enough K has the logo tattooed on his left arm, and his fascination with children fed theirs. Jamboree 1988, from Beat record, obviously, his favorite, is half the cake, the nostalgia, half wild with fear, disco, pop collapses in a pool of singing in the final.
Bayou Country
Artist: Creedence Clearwater Revival
Release Date: 1969
Like many other punk, classic rock loved Nirvana, unlike most of his colleagues, embraced – one of the first attempts Cobain and Novoselic at playing music together is a Creedence cover band. Kurt gave him 1969 as his favorite album, and you can hear a lot of John Fogerty is broken below in "Born on the Bayou" in the way he taught himself to sing, you can also hear the sound of Creedence chords and simple melodies resurfaced in the music of Nirvana. Which may also have included Nirvana Creedence, however, was the art of reinvention and presentation: I remember, Fogerty is Cali really a boy, not a native swamp.
Liliput
Artist: Kleenex / Liliput
Release Date: 2003
"Anything Kleenex", as Kurt was usually put on lists of favorite recordings. Swiss Young women are enrolled for the first time as Kleenex, then as Liliput between 1978 and 1983 was a blur discography, and this compilation of all that were not in the States Together until 2001. In the summer of 1991, Nirvana was just another much-loved group Washington, and other groups gathered here – in the anthology that launched the label of the same name – were his contemporaries and scenemates: his old friends The Melvins, Bikini Kill (with Kurt ex-girlfriend Tobi Vail), label owner Slim Moon Witchypoo Band, Steve Fisk (who had recorded the European Parliament exploded), Heavens to Betsy (With a very young Corin Tucker, Sleater-Kinney after) and a duo of Lois Maffeo and Pat Maley, which bore the name of Courtney Love – Offline … almost.

Singer songwriter Ana da Silva and Gina Birch has reformed the band in 1994 to open the Nirvana on tour that never happened. They did, however, tours of the United States and recorded this album for a meeting of two new songs for BBC radio and two early favorites, made with sure-footed power and cooling re-mind the design language, without prejudice of good and sound of pop songs that Cobain had drawn first.
