changes mid-career, it's time to continue learning
It has been almost three years now that I'm past my first race in America corporate. When I look back on this period of time, something that is very clear to me is that my thirst for learning is greater than it has been for many years. Great Part of that was certainly attributable to start a second career in a discipline that promotes continuous learning and adaptation to the different tendencies and thought processes. I became a reader much more than it was before. I gained new knowledge from both books and in today's world the wealth of information available via the Internet in forms such as electronic journals, web sites and discussion forums.
One of the most frustrating things for me to hear those who are in the midst of living their lives, they are too old to learn something new. Although I am in no way accept this feeling, but I am also concerned because it becomes more obvious to me all the time that the only constant we can have confidence in the world today is that the change in the ways of doing things are always in place. The state of our economy is the elimination of many jobs past, but at the same time time of opening of new jobs with different knowledge and skills. How people communicate and receive information continues to evolve through different technologies and media.
Some of the sources used to increase my knowledge in the last 3 years:
Achieve my Coaching Certification – During the 8 months that have followed a program 400 hours, including class time in person, tele-classes, book reviews, peer coaching, mentor training, a written exam and an oral examination. Was first structured educational program I had followed since the end of my Masters 22 years earlier. The opportunity to learn with others from all backgrounds and experiences different life has been one of the most exciting experiences I've had. Many of these contacts continued today as friends. Is there any way or degree to which I've always wanted follow, but never in the past? Now is a good time in your life who engage in this search.
Online Adult School classes – local adult schools often offer a wide range of sessions to increase their knowledge. Mostly they are generally very affordable and offer the opportunity to learn at their own pace. When I took my sessions of last school adults 10 to 15 years, a feature I found was the introduction of adult school classes online. These services were available for the comfort of my home on my computer. The lessons were released twice a week and take time for me. The ability to track issues and have a dialogue with the instructor was also available. In my case, I had the opportunity to continue a training course to become a tour guide (I always liked travel), learn to speak Spanish (my wife is of Cuban origin and his family, including children, who speak the language.) It was fun and relaxing way to learn at my own pace, but mostly I was a kid my knowledge in the areas of interest to me.
Reading books – Although this has long been a source of people to improve their expertise from chains and mega bookstores, online sites for the production of books available from the authors of all kinds information is immediately at hand. If you have not been to your local bookstore after time, make a stop if you resisted until now. Recently homes in Portland, Oregon I stopped at "Powell" the largest bookstore I've never been fair to the "Self Help" books and the number of available topics is amazing. (This was true for any material you might think). The fact is that there is much that can not expand their horizons. No Do not miss the opportunity to waste.
Seminars – can be taken many ways. What can be done in person at your local library or by phone. They can be as short as one hour session or can be several sessions. often shorter they are are free while those who come in several sessions, while a right, they are generally inexpensive. Those who take part in the seminar often share the same interest you, if you learn with everyone else in the same field. Search seminars in person at your local newspaper. Telephone Seminars can be taken anywhere in the world and do not require you to have access to a telephone to participate.
Reality is that the learning opportunities of all types are constantly around him. Even just taking advantage of one or two opportunities for learning can provide a good balance between the activities of your busy lifestyle and provide a little privacy for himself. The fact is that it does not reach a point to stop learning. Decisions on how to grow each day and up to you to use the resources most appeal to you.
