prophetic books in the bible

Myths about the study of biblical prophecy

People who study the end times Bible prophecy (also known as "eschatology") know it is a huge amount of evidence suggests that it should be studied and is very relevant to us today. However, also know people who do not like this idea for a variety of reasons. I hope the following information will help people understand the importance of prophecy to defend their understanding of this problem and will dispel some common myths that some people believe that they also understand what the Word of God says about biblical prophecy.

  1. The first Discussion focuses on evil design has little relevance prophecy.
  2. The second discussion can dispel the myth that the prophecy is too complex to study.
  3. The myth of the third and final contest that the prophecy has been fulfilled historically. (Here's the gist of this article because this myth requires a thorough discussion to address in its entirety.)

MYTH # 1 – Bible prophecy has little relevance

Biblical prophecy is found throughout Scripture, and many experts note that more than 25% of the Bible is devoted to this subject. It's easy to find the basics of all the theological issues related to the prophecy. Prophecy about the first coming of Christ (also known as "Messianic Prophecy") is in many places in the Old Testament prophecy and end times can be found in the Bible.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, the apostles Paul, Peter, and others give the attention that the end-time prophecy. Jesus himself explains the scene at the end of time Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24 and in parallel passages of Mark 13 and Luke 21). Of course, the Revelation of Jesus Christ, the last book of the Bible is called Revelation and clearly shows the importance of prophecy. Bible prophecies about the end times can also be found in Daniel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Romans, Hebrews, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, and many other places in Scripture.

We also know God does everything according to His divine plan and purpose and, therefore, would be contradictory nature of God that he has had prophetic words recorded if it had end. God even tells us it is important to specific verses:

  • Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets. (Amos 3:7)
  • "See, I told you beforehand." (Matthew 24:25) and "Be on your guard. I told you beforehand" (Mark 13:23)
  • Do not extinguish the fire of the Spirit, do not despise prophecies. all tested. Get ready. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21)
  • And we have the prophetic and some more, and you will do well to heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. (2 Peter 1:19)
  • Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture was established by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men of God spake as they were swept by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • Blessed who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and take seriously what is written inside. (Revelation 1:3)

MYTH # 2 – The Prophecy of the Bible is too complex to study

In the past, one could say that the prophecy has been a complex issue so it was not well understood. Only recently the last time biblical prophecies as understood, as today. To emphasize this idea is actually a great incentive for people studying the prophecy of the Bible recently. Why? Because of what God himself said Daniel. Daniel wrote: "I ear, but I do not understand. So I asked: "My lord, what will be the result of all this is?" He replied: Go, Daniel, because the words are kept secret and sealed until the time of the end "(Daniel 12:8-9).

As you can see, Daniel did not understand what God has asked to register. When asked the Lord what the result would be, God has answered that the words were not intended for Daniel to understand and, in fact, should be "closed and sealed until the end of time." By Therefore, one can show that now, due to relatively recent events, which are capable of understand prophecy more than ever, so the logical conclusion is that we now live in the "end times" God says!

Today Bible prophecy researchers are able to understand much more than it would have been understood, even decades ago. We now understand that technological advances made historic and modern are wearing something that only a few decades ago the prophecy could not have been achieved. I will discuss some of these issues by addressing the last myth that needs further study to fully understand.

MYTH # 3 – The Prophecy of the Bible is historical truth

This myth is widely accepted, as has been propagated by the Catholic Church for centuries. Unfortunately, this view was also adopted by many Protestant denominations Poplar otherwise the idea of accepting the false doctrine of Catholicism. The view was attenuated form for centuries, but increased in the 17 th century, when a Jesuit priest Luis de Alcazar (1554-1613) gave a new life.

The Reformation was a time when the Bible was available to read by anyone who has made a large number potential problems for the Roman Catholic Church, because people might then begin to understand the Book of Revelation discussed the apostasy of the Catholic Church Romana. Fortress has developed a sophisticated theory to refute this conclusion by stating that the Revelation was in the Church of struggles during his early years. To support This theory, proposed a method of allegorical interpretation of revelation to help align the text of Scripture with historical events.

Unfortunately, during the Reformation that the capture theory and extended to some Protestant groups who otherwise had made many other false doctrines of the religion Catholic. People who believe that the prophecy was fulfilled in the past called "preterist" while people who understand the end times prophecy of the Bible is the future we are called "futurist." Preterist interpretation is very intelligent, therefore, to the innocent person can be taught this of view, may seem quite valid.

Many Christians who believe in the good Preterism are intelligent people who hold sound doctrine on other issues. No However, as shown in this article, the methods and logic of interpretation to the conclusion that all the prophecies were fulfilled in the past required significant inconsistencies for all goods and, more importantly, the theory collapses when the facts of history are discussed in the text of the Bible.

We read in 2 Peter 3:2-4 is a prophecy interesting ", I recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through his apostles. First, we must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, laugh and follow their own desires. They will say: "Where is this "promise of his coming?" Then a few verses later (2 Peter 3:8), we find these important words to explain that the Lord not return immediately: "But remember, nothing, dear friends. With the Lord a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, according to some slowly. He is patient with us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. "

What makes interesting words in 2 Peter, remains disappointing is that, although we can imagine people outside the church was the return of our Lord, there will be people within the Church to ridicule those who are in the Word of God point and the return of Christ to the Church through the Rapture (an event clearly explained in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, I will answer later in this article.)

I think if someone who has served Preterist is willing to consider the question of honesty, they will realize that trying to align prophetic biblical passages with historical events requires much imagination and handling the Bible, and there is much evidence that tells us that prophecy is for our future. The literal interpretation of the Bible, however, provides us with a recognition that God told him I meant, and what he said. the explanation of Dr. DL Cooper the best way to interpret the Bible is commonly called the golden rule of interpretation:

When the plain meaning of Scripture is a common sense, seek no other sense, therefore, take every word at its primary, normal, normal, unless the literal facts the immediate context, studied in the light of related passages and axiomatic truths and fundamental freedoms, clearly indicate otherwise.

It is interesting of preterists often taken literally, all the passages which refer to repent of their sins and be baptized. They also interpret the Bible literally, in most elsewhere, even if it requires faith to accept that what was said was absolutely (eg, creationism, the great flood of Noah, Daniel in the lion's den, the virgin birth, all miracles Jesus, resurrection, etc.) right. However, when it comes to understanding that Jesus will return to his church and Christians will be in the clouds of kidnapping, they consider meaningless passages of the rational mind. However, if you wonder why they teach allegory theme of the prophecy of the end times and believes it could be the point of view of the false teachings that came from the Roman Catholic Church, which could begin to understand the problem is not about what makes sense to our finite minds, but, rather, what makes sense in light of the infallible Word of our Almighty Creator.

In other words, we must accept God's Word is infallible and must take the letter for us to understand that God existed before time and has created everything, or how the world whole has been consumed in a stream (but not before God said a man and his family first to build an ark). We must interpret the Bible literally, standing on the Word of God that Jesus was born of a virgin, or how he healed the blind, the crippled, the way she walks on water, and how they calmed down immediately raging storm he speaks. We may not affect understanding Lazarus is raised from the dead, and especially how Jesus died and then resurrected literally three days later. The list could go on and on.

I hope this encourages people to explore the issue of end-time prophecy together the Word of God will remain open intellectually and spiritually sensitive. There is no shame to reassess what we have learned that, then adjust in the light of new knowledge. Thank God that the apostle Paul did just that when he returned from persecuting Christians to be probably the most influential person, other than Christ himself in Christianity! The shame is that if we ignore the facts and is more focused on the Word of God misunderstanding. (I occasionally have had to rethink how they thought about particular issues verses and any new information was provided to me. Often, after much prayer, which also asked the Lord for wisdom and discernment. I found that sometimes, we study the Word of God more and learn new facts from inspired teachers, we get a better understanding after all the parts are combined.)

Upon returning to the topic at hand, even a common sense understanding of the Word of God and its application to us today asked: "Why how much written about prophecy, if the end was really only the early church, then from that moment she has no real demand for generations future? "There are many examples of how not to await the return of Christ in an unexpected way through Rapture undermines the Word of God, 2 Peter 3:9-10 and Titus 2:11-14. As mentioned above, also could seriously marginalize a substantial amount of the Bible where the prophecy is discussed, as 1 Thessalonians 2 Thessalonians, Romans, Chapters 9-11, 2 Peter, and the Book of Revelation (to name a few important places.)

Looking preterist position, we must also ask why This false view was allowed to succeed. First, we must acknowledge the obvious is that most of the events in 70 are formed, at least to some As part of the text. In addition, because Israel has stopped being a nation for so long, only helped to support the position. I'll answer these two questions in a much more detailed below.

I think we should also consider that Satan, who is the master of lies and deceit and cunning the enemy, Jews and Christians, had his hand in the field also. He knows the Scriptures and understands that he can fool people into believing the lie, for an advantage substantial. In this case, the conviction that God is primarily with the nation of Israel is helping to promote anti-Semitism, which is clearly the strategy of Satan-a control plan and time again in history.

It is clear that Satan believes he can to derail the plan of God can change the outcome. Just look at how Egyptians, Babylonians, Syrians, and Romans were used to persecute Jews as Satan motivated King Herod to kill all male babies at birth of Christ, and how the Holocaust was an attempt to exterminate the entire Jewish people. Today we see the same thing, except it is in the likes of Islamic nations (Especially Iran) and terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. These are people openly committed to destroying the Jewish people and the earth the size of New Jersey, away from them, regardless of other land to the extent they may have.

Satan knows that if he can, once again, quiet Christians back to the people Jew, then, is gaining ground for a new strategic assault on the Jews. If you can prove that God does not honor his promise to Abraham centuries ago and their descendants the land of Israel is for them and without preconditions "(Genesis 15:18-21), then a case can also be God dishonoring his covenant with sinners. Of course, we serve a God who keeps his promises unconditional. There is also a God who has revealed and will continue to demonstrate that it is much higher than the plans Satan. Will, once again, with the Jewish people and Bible prophecy to demonstrate his character and perfect omniscience.

The idea that all what has happened will also help future Royal events take many people by surprise. In particular, if people do not expect an end-time events are produce, such as the real Antichrist will rise on the world stage, while it is much easier for him to do without being recognized for what it is. In addition, one system to the banking world, a world government, and so will any logical sense to everyone except those who are sensitive to the fact that these conditions precede the rule of the Antichrist and the reign of terror. An apostate religious system also can develop more easily when Christians are not aware of his coming.

Now I'm not saying that people who believe in Satanic Preterism are in alliance with the Antichrist, which are not necessarily anti-Semitic, but often the point of view which have led to a loss of appreciation for what the Word of God says about his chosen people, Jews and the land of Israel. Moreover, while their points view on the issue is not about salvation, can have profound effects approaching the last days in the light of what Scripture says will happen. Therefore, Why write this part of this article, as I hope to help people who are willing to be intellectually honest and say that a Preterist view of prophecy may be incorrect in the light of the analysis of the writings of the object.

As mentioned above, which confuses, is that some of what is described in the Bible happened in the past, so that just enough credibility theory seems very plausible, without further study. The most significant events happened, it was the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD and the persecution of the early church. However, when considering the matter diligently, they learn that many prophetic events Jesus predicted has not happened, and requires substantial manipulation of the Bible to fit when examined more closely.

First, we understand that the Bible has many examples of the prophetic call "model, in which scores gain something that was fulfilled at a later date. Although there are many examples, perhaps the most notable example is in Genesis, where we see Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac. Particularly revealing some verses that explain that it is a predictive model is found in Genesis 22:2, "And God said," Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you. "What makes it particularly revealing is that Abraham had another son, Ishmael, conceived by Hagar, however, we see that the Holy Spirit inspired the writer to use the phrase "your only son" in this verse. It is interesting to note that this is the first place the word "love" appears in the Bible.

In this sense, we can see how easy the description of this scene foreshadows the divine sacrifice of Christ on the cross, eloquently summed up in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have life eternal. "The story of Abraham and Isaac is interesting, but has much more power and relevance when viewed in a broader context of the sacrifice that God made more in the future.

Another example of a prophetic type can be found in the book of Ruth, we learn that as a parent redeemer Boaz takes his wife Ruth Gentile, similar to the Church of Christ to the Gentiles as his wife. Again, the actual events were smaller and less consequential, and yet, are evidence of an omniscient God had a plan from beginning to end, a plan that is still at work.

Take this concept forward, we see that while some of the events of Jesus happen, said in the Olivet Discourse occurred in 70, many others simply did not happen. Looking at some of the things he did and did not occur, a finding of intellectual honesty can only be the year 70 was only partial implementation. For example, in Matthew 24:6-8 Jesus said there will be wars and rumors of wars and that would witness the nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom. The words used to describe what is quite different from "there will be some rebellion a number of skirmishes, and some battles, "which is really all I could say that happened when the Jews revolted against the occupation Romano and were treated accordingly (in which the nation of Israel ceased to exist once the Roman government had done enough to deal with the rebellion of Jews). Hardly be called "wars" in which many nations participated.

Other places in Scripture also confirm that the times of the final war will be much higher, for example, as described in Ezekiel 38. Interestingly, Ezekiel's vision of a future war is a description of how nation of Israel will essentially come to life, as it did in 1948 after the Holocaust. I'll try this in more detail in this article.

Moving only a few verses further, we find another example, not prophecy. In Matthew 24:14 says the gospel will be preached throughout the world at that time, although it certainly has not happened for 70 years. In fact, only now, thanks to modern communications technology (press, radio, television, film, satellite and the Internet) that we come to demand that the gospel was preached to every nation, tribe, people and language. Preterist face by reducing the Word of God and His plan for the future, saying "all" really meant "all Israel" (About the size of New Jersey).

In the next verse (Matthew 24:15) we read about the "abomination of desolation", which is when the Antichrist himself established in the Temple and proclaim God. In other parts of Scripture learn about the Antichrist: For example, we know who is accompanied by a false prophet who will perform many signs and miracles (Matthew 24:24, Revelation 13:13). If signs of great and miraculous had taken at this time, historians have recorded these materials certainly notable in his writings. The text makes its way to acknowledge that there great signs and wonders, not just something magical Hocus Pocus street.

We also know from Daniel 9:27 (Jesus referred specifically to the expression) that the Antichrist will confirm a covenant with many for a period of seven years, but in the midst of this period, will take place the abomination of desolation. Note that this is the abomination of desolation (the wrath of God through tribulation events described in Revelation) and not the act itself which is desolate. No There are historical records of this takes place in 70. We can look back to 168 BC, as a prelude to the event, where the Greek tyrant Antiochus Epiphanes profaned the sanctuary of the Temple by building an altar to Zeus. However, the Roman general Titus did not take measures in 70 before destroying the temple.

In fact, the Romans had no intention of destroying the temple, as there were many treasures that are rich. When the torch was thrown through a window and lit temple fire, molten gold in the cracks. Therefore, to recover the gold, the Romans took apart the temple of a shot at a time, thus fulfilling the prediction of Jesus one day not one stone would be left to another (Matthew 24:2).

Another place where we can turn to are the four words of Jesus specifically chose to use when referring to the abomination of desolation. Note that most of the Gospel was spread by mouth while Jesus was on earth until year 70 (and even beyond), because most people could not read and write, and for a while and before that was easy to record the words of a quickly and easily. Therefore, it is very revealing in Matthew 24:15 an interesting phrase, "the reader understand." Jesus quoted scripture several of both, but specifically added these words on this point: it says His words were meant to be read and studied by people in the future.

Another place where you can dispel the notion that 70 years fulfilled all that is said in Matthew 24:21. You can read these important words: "For then shall Apocalypse, from the world's beginning until now and never will there ever be. "As we look back in history, we can see that the Jews were persecuted Meanwhile, for the historian Josephus records that millions of Jews were murdered at the hands of the Romans in AD 70. After historians suggest that it may have only appeared, and the number is much lower. However, even using this inflated figure, undoubtedly know that is far from being six million Jews killed by the Nazi Holocaust during World War II.

Other places in Scripture also highlight the main death Zechariah 13:8-9 explain how two-thirds of humanity will be destroyed, which is also supported in the Book of Revelation. (In fact, the trouble many events described in Revelation have clearly not reached yet. I respond to the book of Revelation later: not because it is strongly linked to the Olivet Discourse, but because of problems of interpretation and understanding himself). Back in the Olivet Discourse, Matthew 24:22 goes on to explain going to be so severe that must be interrupted so that all human life is exterminated. A Again, we see no evidence of anything to happen now in 70.

Dr. Randall Price offers six key differences between AD 70 the Temple and Temple that exists in the tribulation period to come:

1. The temple described in Matthew 24:15 is not said to be destroyed, desecrated (see Revelation 11:2). By contrast, the Temple of Jesus "(Matthew 24:2 o) must be completely shaved," not one stone left standing on another "(Matthew 24:2, Mark 13:02 ET Luke 19:44).

2. desecration of the Temple was a sign for the Jews to escape destruction (Matthew 24:16-18), "is saved "(Matthew 24:22) and experience the promise of" redemption "(Luke 21:28). However, the destruction of the temple in Matthew 24:2 is a judge" because not know the time of his visit [the Messiah 's first coming] "(Luke 19:44 b) and resulted in the level of the temple in progress [ed] to the land and their children [The Jews] in you "(Luke 19:44 a).

3. The generation of Jews who are alive when the Temple is defiled await the coming of the Messiah "immediately after "(Matthew 24:29), and is expected to miss what they have experienced (Matthew 24:34). By contrast, the generation of Jews who saw the Temple destroyed and Die 2000 years (to date) would increase without redemption.

4. The quoted text of Jesus on the desecration of the Temple, Daniel 9:27, which predicts that profane the temple itself is destroyed. In contrast, those who destroyed the Temple in 70 (in fulfilling the prediction of Jesus) – the emperor Roman Titus Vespasian and his son – have not destroyed, but returned to Rome in triumph bringing vessels of the temple destroyed.

5. Time "immediately after" (Matthew 24:29) When the desecration of the temple would be the repentance of Israel (Matthew 24:30), followed, according to Matthew 23:29 implies the restoration of the Temple. However, the time of the Temple's destruction was only a "tightening" move "Israel", which should last "until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in "(Romans 11:25) – 2000 years and counting.

6. For the Temple is defiled, the scope is a trial in the world " come into the world "(Luke 21:26; Compare Matthew 24:21-22, Mark 13:19-20), a global disorder of the Jewish people" From one end of heaven to the other " (Matthew 24:31, Mark 13:27), and a universal revelation of the Messiah to rescue Israel (Matthew 24:30-31, 01:26 pm Mark, Luke 21:26-27). This scope agreements with the battle prophesied the end of time saved for Jerusalem in Zechariah 12-14, where "all the nations of the earth are gathered against it" (Zechariah 12:3). In contrast, 70 AD assault on Jerusalem in Luke 21:20 is predicted by the armies of an empire (Rome). Therefore, if two different attacks in Jerusalem, separated by more than 2,000 years, then two separate temples are in Matthew 24:1-2 and Matthew 24:15.

Randall Price Jerusalem, referring Prophecy: Training A God for the final drama (Eugene, OR:. Harvest House, 1998) p. 251-55

Continuing along, we read in Matthew 24:29 the Lord return "as soon after the tribulation of those days." There is absolutely no sign of the return of Christ at the moment, given the importance ends of this, no doubt, was registered by the early church (and other historians) did. In fact, if you read the Olivet Discourse, Jesus made it clear that his return be an event that is not interrupted (Matthew 24:27, Matthew 24:30). It will also provide his people "(Luke 21:28), but the opposite happened in the year 70 AD. The only other way that each of these lines can explain is to spiritualize and say Jesus came again, but in some "spiritual journey" (which obviously contradicts the plain meaning of the text.)

We also read in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 to return to the Church in a much more notable:

For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a command from above, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. After that, we who are still alive and left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always with the Lord.

First, recognize immediately that says "the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven", which leaves no margin spiritualize the text We also note that some people still alive were taken (also known as "The Rapture of the Church"), which, of course, has not yet been something that, historically important, and obviously rather be well known! Note also the meeting place is in the clouds and the physics (the discussion is resurrected bodies and people living at the time). The first chapter of Acts also supports what we read above, that Christ will be seen in the cloud and physical return. If this was not the case, there was no specific mention that he ascended into heaven, and was covered by a cloud (Acts 1:9), and would return the so it had risen (Acts 1:11).

The last part of the discourse on the Mount of Olives we can see is Matthew 24:32. Before, when addresses of the myth that the prophecy is too complex to study, I mentioned that we are now able to see the relatively recent historical events under to what he said would happen in the prophetic Scriptures. One of the most notable is when Israel began again:

"However, the days come, saith the LORD, "when men no longer say:" As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites out of Egypt, "but they say:" Vive the LORD, who brought the Israelites into the land of the north and all the countries where he had banished. Since eating into the land which I gave to their ancestors. "(Jeremiah 16:14-15)

Until recently, it was difficult to know exactly what these words recorded by the prophet Jeremiah meant. Due to the destruction of Israel hands of the Romans in 70 AD, Jews were finally dispersed far from their homeland and they remained together for nearly two thousand years. After both time period, it is no wonder that many Bible scholars began to wonder if the words of Jeremiah was not a historic or symbolic in nature. However, May 14, 1948 has radically changed this concept, since it is the date on which Israel officially became a nation again. The result of Israel becoming a nation, while only 50,000 Jews lived there in 1900, today about 5.6 million Jews in Israel.

Undoubtedly, May 14, 1948 is another example of how the Word of God is 100 percent reliable. (Every time we study the Word of God and reflect on the news, we must always understand These are the events which conform to the Word of God, and not vice versa.) As we consider the recent nation of Israel is important for us to achieve this important event was not very long! Unlike many generations for nearly 2,000 years observed during the events of the evening, we are the first that really can bring to this event, and note the importance of Bible prophecy has recently been completed. Chart below, we hope that this important concept clear:

In Matthew 24:32-35 we read these words of Jesus, "32Now learn a lesson from the fig tree: When its branch becomes tender and the leaves know that summer is near 33Even Yes, when you see all these. things, you know you are near the door. 34i tell you the truth, this generation shall not pass until all these things come. 35Heaven and earth pass away but my words shall not pass. "

It is essential that we understand the overall context of "this generation. "If Jesus had not preceded the verse 34 of the parable of the fig tree in verses 32 and 33, out of context, which could be interpreted as the generation that Jesus spoke is the one that has seen all these events. However, in the context in which Jesus has just said that when all the time events finally began to occur, this generation shall not pass, it is much better understood than it was for a future generation. Also not unlike intelligence when Jesus spoke of his many parables, or the Sermon on the Mount, that the public should be beyond the immediate view of the speaker. Mention Preterist this because often quote Matthew 24:34 to support his theory, but not to read the two verses above to provide an appropriate context.

Another verse Preterist use to support their position is Matthew 4:28 pm, "I tell you the truth, some who are here will not taste death before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. "Without further study, you can fool the conclusion of the verse suggests that" return "to Jesus before that some of those whom he speaking of dying, however, we must continue to read (despite the unfortunate chapter break I've been writing more closely related), because next series verses in Matthew chapter 17 describes the transfiguration of Jesus:

Six days later Jesus took Peter, James and brother of Jean Jacques, and took on a high mountain. He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun and his garments became white as light. In At present, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus: "Lord, is good for us to be here. If you want, I'll put up three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. "As he spoke, a bright cloud enveloped them, and the cloud a voice said." This is my Son, whom I love "with him I am well pleased Listen to" When the disciples heard this, he fell face down on the floor, terrified. But Jesus came and touched. "Arise," he said. "Do not be afraid."

If there is doubt that the transfiguration is a glimpse of some of the disciples to be witnesses the coming of Jesus in his kingdom, that can happen 2 Peter 1:16-17 what makes the event quite clearly. Pedro, who was elected one of the witnesses of the transfiguration of Jesus, says this about the event:

We have not followed cunningly devised fables, told him about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses Her Majesty. For he received honor and glory of God the Father when the voice came to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love. With him I am well pleased "
We can compare to many other places in writing that reveal the year 70 did not fulfill the prophecy predicted that happens. In Romans 11:12-24, Paul makes clear that Israel will be a future blessing. This shows that God's chosen people is not forgotten. God's promises are eternal, which should give all Christian comfort to know God is not just a day "another plan" for us too!

After his explanation of the blessing of the future of Israel, Paul reveals that the rejection of the Jews "the Messiah has come, so that Gentiles could also be part of God's eternal kingdom (Romans 11:25). Every time you see a biblical reference to a "mystery", which means it is something that has not been revealed before. In this case, Paul is explaining why the concept of the Jews "rejected the Messiah is that he has given to other loves the opportunity for salvation.

It is important to note that he says will happen until the completeness of Gentiles comes in. In other words, God has a specific number of pagans to become Christians in mind. Once you reach this number again its attention on Israel. (The concept of God as a whole still have a period during which he will lead the nation of Israel is explained by what is known as "the 70th week of Daniel. I wrote a separate article on this important issue, but in order not to interrupt the flow of this article, I cite it as "Related Links" at the end. In this article) This can also be a good place to explain that God loves the Jewish people more gentle, but he chose the nation of Israel to give birth to the Messiah and to see his omniscience, in which the events that predict something Israel has come to pass in the past and continue to make our future unfolds.

Read in II Thessalonians 2:3,4 that will be a great apostasy (departure) before that date (the day of the Lord, also known as "tribulation.") It is an echo of the prophecy of Daniel chapter 11. A few verses later in II Thessalonians 2:8, we read that the antichrist will be revealed, and later, Lord comes to eating again (second coming). 1:14-15 Judas not a reference to the prophecy: namely, that when Christ returns, will do so with "thousands and thousands "Of his saints to execute judgments against all.

This brings us to the Book of Revelation, probably the most misunderstood book of the Bible. It need not be if we learn to study. Of course, we recognize that is an apocalyptic work that many symbols are used to convey his message, however, we can understand if careful study of Scripture and recognize that much of what is said can be taken literally, or at least almost literally. Interpretation of the Bible (also known as hermeneutics) is very important for all disciplines to study the Bible and eschatology is probably one of the largest studies where interpretation is crucial to understanding the Word of God.

It is time for people to reconsider how they interpret the end times prophecy of the Bible: A bit like when people used to examine the word "Israel" in New Testament and think it must have meant "the Church", because Israel did not exist as a nation. Of course, anyone taking the first steps to do this should be done in the danger of their position within the church community in a workshop special, etc to which they belong. I recognize that it can be uncomfortable, but the word of God says what it says and is the final authority on the issue.

Looking messianic Prophecy, we can see that it is often quite literally (although some poetic license has been applied). Only a few of the many examples are:

Jesus born in Bethlehem

Old Testament prophecy. "But thou Bethlehem, if you are small among the clans of Judah, from you shall come for me to reign over Israel "(Micah 5:2)

New Compliance Testament: "Jesus was born in Bethlehem …" (Matthew 2:1)

Jesus wants his hands and feet pierced

The prophecies of the Old Testament: "The assembly of the wicked I have my assistant. They have pierced my hands and feet." (Psalm 22:16)

Fulfilled in the New Testament: "And when they reached the place, which is called Calvary, they crucified him and the malefactors, one to the right and left. "(Luke 23:33)

Jesus would be sold for thirty pieces of silver

Old Testament prophecies: "And they weighed out thirty pieces of silver for my money." (Zechariah 11:12)

New Testament Fulfillment: "And according to him for thirty pieces of silver." (Matthew 26:15)

Lots vote for Jesus' clothes

The prophecies of the Old Testament: "They divided my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. "(Psalm 22:18)

Fulfilled in the New Testament: "And when they had crucified him, they divided his clothes among themselves, casting lots. "(Matthew 27:35)

As you can see in this small sample, while the poetic license can not be ignored, we can also see that what was said was literally fulfilled. For example, Bethlehem is not another city on its outskirts, a description of the crucifixion did not end as death by stoning thirty pieces of silver has not resulted in three gold coins, and so on. As we begin to look at the book of Revelation in the light of this, we can begin to understand that if The Bible says that a big earthquake will happen, that the locusts to punish people with a needle, than war and famine will occur, the water will become bitter and toxic, etc, so it's going to happen.

One of the strongest arguments that contradict the preterist theory is that many researchers have dated excellent Revelation was written around 95. It was also the perspective of church historians and scholars of biblical principles, we can not say the date AD 70.

The Preterist view is not how much early biblical scholars interpret the Bible, he says, because if it was the correct interpretation, would probably enjoyed great popularity and a lot of writing would result. In other words, if the events described by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse and other After the Apocalypse have been fulfilled in 70 AD, which would have been the dominant discourse since the early centuries had passed and, therefore, historians and scholars of the Bible have been written about how excited the prophecies come true. However, what we find written the first in which researchers are questioning the identity of the Antichrist (as we do today because his name is not known actually begins before the tribulation).

If on the other hand, the Apocalypse was written year 95 and therefore was not relevant to the fateful year 70, then the theory collapses preterist. Unfortunately, we can not simply making a date on the letter John wrote to when he wrote the Apocalypse, we must examine other evidence: more external and internal data strongly point to the date of 95 AD of the Apocalypse. Dr. Thomas Ice did an excellent job of pointing out these issues in his role, target = "_blank" title = "The date of the Apocalypse"> The date of the Apocalypse.

Another important concept that helps your understanding of Revelation is that we can interpret what is often in the Revelation, the let the Bible be interpreted (eg, a symbol that was first introduced ambiguous and more clearly defined: for example, "enormous red dragon" later in Revelation 12:03 clearly identified as "Satan" in Revelation 12:9).

A comprehensive review of the Apocalypse is beyond the scope of this section and take a whole book to appropriate a descriptive study. If you do not want to dig deeper into the Apocalypse, we I recommend the book of Revelation (The Smart Guide to the Bible Series) by Daymond R Duck.
