collection of books, First printed edition of The Wheel of Time – The Eye of the World?
Hi, I'm trying to recover first cap lasting impression on all, the first edition set of wheels of time series by Robert Jordan. The question I have the first book in the series, The Eye of the World. I found a copy of the book states first edition with a full line number in February 1990 published by Tor (which has also published other books in the series.) The trick is that the book was published months earlier, in January 1990 for a different editor. So I'm confused about whether or not the digital copy I found is "valid" the first printing / first edition in the eye of a collector of books on average. If anyone can enlighten us on this point would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phil
As far as I know, that should be the first edition, first printing, if you say "first edition" and has all the numbers in the print line. What is the value, do not know. Regarding the differences in the publication, it seems strange. How do you know that the book was pubbed in January 1990? What was the name of the editor of others? I used to work for Tor, and all the books we've published a "Tor Books" in the title page. After of my first months of work there, the company changed its name to "A Tom Doherty Associates, LLC," but I still think Tor Books on the cover. If you visit the copyright page of books, must have the same editorial direction (I think it's something like 175 Fifth Avenue). As he says the words "first edition" and the entire print line, you should be safe. The only reason I could think that the name of the editor would Tor different pubbed under affiliate, St. Martin's Press, or its parent company, Holtzbring. You could try to look on eBay to see what others say they are first editions only to compare. Hope this helps!
